The Pittsburgh 100.com - As summer approaches and Pittsburgh finally begins to thaw out, so many, myself included, are desperate for a reason to get outside — and we know the perfect way to do so. Built upon the abandoned grades of two railway systems in Pennsylvania and Maryland, the Great Allegheny Passage is now 150 miles of trail from Cumberland, Md., to Pittsburgh.

Although most facilities and visitor centers are beginning to reopen, the trails remain open to the public, and the hundreds of small businesses that rely on hikers, runners and cyclists welcome any support.
