Maryland 250th Celebration

Make your way to Cumberland for a spectacular semiquincentennial celebration at Canal Place on July 4, starting with a ride or hike on the Great Allegheny Passage. Enjoy live entertainment all day, the burial of a time capsule, and planting of the liberty tree. Take in a “freedom ride” with the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad during the day and nostalgic ice cream trains in the evening, with narrators sharing history of the area as you chug through the mountains to Frostburg. Special programming throughout both trail towns and culminating with fireworks, this will be worth an overnight stay. Bring your neighbors and friends to participate in this milestone celebration!
