Stars, Stripes, and Smiles: 250 Fun Day

June 13 @ 11:00 am 3:00 pm

Situated on 130 scenic hillside acres between Cumberland and Frostburg, the Evergreen Heritage Center is a historic Maryland farm dating back to before the Revolutionary War and recognized on the National Register for its architectural importance and its role in early Western Maryland settlements. Visitors can explore its three museums which include the Farmhouse Museum – originally built around 1780 and expanded in 1822 and 1880 — including a recently-restored 200-year-old Pennsylvania Bank-style barn, the Agriculture Museum with a new exhibit focusing on the history of the Mount Savage Area in the late 1700’s, and the Coal Camp featuring a blacksmith shop, recreated mine opening, boarding house, and small mine museum.

On June 13, these three museums will be open, and visitors may also take one of several “trailblazing 250 guided hikes” that morning on the new Forest Evolution Trail, which includes a spur to the Great Allegheny Passage. Stick around for a fun commemoration of the nation’s 250th birthday with storytellers, kids’ activities, vendors, live music, cooking demos, and more!
