This month, Somerset County will deploy professional structural engineers to perform routine inspections of several bridges that carry the Great Allegheny Passage over the Casselman River between Rockwood and Confluence. This work will require setting up platforms and apparatus on each bridge for a few hours, resulting in half-day closures.
On November 13, the bridge carrying the GAP over the Casselman River near Confluence (mile marker 60.9) will be closed for inspection from 9:00 am to roughly 12:00 noon, and the bridge carrying the GAP over the Casselman River near Harnedsville (mile marker 58.9) will be closed for inspection from roughly 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm.
On November 14, the Pinkerton High Bridge will be closed for inspection from 9:00 am to roughly 12:00 noon, and the Pinkerton Low Bridge will be closed from roughly 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm.
Please be alert for construction vehicles on or near the GAP those days, and plan your day rides elsewhere. If you are on a thru-ride, please plan to cross those bridges before or after the inspections are complete. There will be no detour or shuttle service.
