Over the Falls

Plan a weekend on the Great Allegheny Passage and plan to watch the amazing Over the Falls race, a spirited kayak competition that consists of a two-foot ledge, four-foot ledge and the eighteen-foot Ohiopyle Falls. The course is approximately a quarter-mile in length, and is considered a class IV run. This is a gnarly section of the Youghiogheny River and only rarely permitted for qualified whitewater paddlers to attempt. Watch from the Ohiopyle State Park visitor center or from Ferncliff Peninsula, then enjoy dinner in Ohiopyle.
