Layton Bridge Replacement

GAP Mile 99 | Reported on | Last Updated:

Crews deployed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation are constructing a replacement bridge to carry vehicles over the Great Allegheny Passage and the Youghiogheny River near the hamlet of Layton, a few miles west of Connellsville.  This work will take 2-3 years, and throughout the duration of the project, occasional shutdowns of 20 minutes or less will occur for events like tree felling, blasting and steel erection.  Watch for flaggers, be prepared to pause, and be attentive to contractors in and around this area.
