Make a stop along the Great Allegheny Passage at The Waterfront, an open-air shopping center located in Homestead, just on the edge of Pittsburgh and sitting on the historic site of the former U.S. Steel Homestead Works along the Monongahela River. The Waterfront is home to a vibrant collection of stores, restaurants, hotels, entertainment, and community events, with a view of the former steel mill stacks. Travelers and tourists will find a variety of big-name brands like Marshall’s, DSW, Ulta Beauty, and Carhartt, as well as small local businesses such as Fudge Farm, Boards & Baskets and Paint Monkey. Restaurants include, Burgatory, Primanti Bros., Rock Bottom Brewing, and many more.
Every day at The Waterfront provides a new opportunity for fun. Whether it’s enjoying live outdoor music, exploring the Great Allegheny Passage, gaming at Dave & Busters, or catching a good laugh at the Improv, there’s so much to do all year long. Several historical landmarks across the property are open for you to visit, like the Pump House, the Dinkey Engine and the Venting Stacks. Visitors can find ample parking for the GAP at a trailhead right along East Waterfront Drive.
