Closure Between Boston and McKeesport; Detour Required

GAP Mile 130 | Reported on | Last Updated:

On Tuesday, October 3, a contractor deployed by the Mon/Yough Trail Council plans to repave a short, narrow, and winding section of the Great Allegheny Passage between Boston and McKeesport. In order to accomplish this work, the GAP will be closed between the Trail Access Area in Boston (approximately mile marker 128) to the 15th Street Bridge in McKeesport (approximately mile marker 131) for approximately three days. This work is weather-dependent, so these closure dates could change and updates will be posted. During this closure, travelers must use an alternate route, and we recommend using the McKeesport Loop, a prescribed mix of on-road riding and dedicated bike path on the opposite side of Youghiogheny River between the Boston Bridge and the 15th Street Bridge. This route is marked intermittently with green and white stylized “Loop” bike logo signs, and is shown in blue on this map.
