High Water in Downtown Pittsburgh Requires Detour

Heavy rain on April 2, 3, and 11 has raised the level of the Monongahela River and Ohio River, leaving the Great Allegheny Passage temporarily impassable and closed along the Mon Wharf and at Point State Park. Please avoid this section of the GAP until floodwaters recede. If you do plan on biking in Downtown Pittsburgh, we recommend that you follow a partly signed alternative route using a mix of bike lanes and sharrows between Smithfield Street and and Point State Park — shown in yellow in this graphic below.
