Runners on trail in the South Side with flowers blooming

Running

From casual workouts to ultramarathon training, the Great Allegheny Passage is the perfect place for your solo run or harrier team training.  Take a run through the state’s deepest gorge in Ohiopyle State Park, or through the meadows between the Keystone Viaduct and Big Savage Tunnel.  Do some sprints along the Youghiogheny River, or build up your miles between Homestead and McKeesport.  While you’ll find water at some campgrounds, it’s best to bring your own.

Run to support trail maintenance along the Great Allegheny Passage by registering for one of the many 5K’s or fun runs hosted by volunteer groups — detailed on our events page.  Find a cool spot on a hot summer day — perhaps the quiet Borden Tunnel, beautiful Cucumber Falls, or shady Roundbottom Hiker-Biker Campground.  Explore a section of the GAP new to you, via our interactive map.
