The Connellsville Gateway Arch, its colorful stained glass fanning 16 feet into the air, welcomes eastbound travelers on the Great Allegheny Passage near the Connellsville Hiker-Biker Campground. Built from formed concrete, coal, and riveted steel, the arch features materials made in the town’s own Youghiogheny Opalescent Glass Factory.  It provides a “view” into Connellsville and beyond it, Chestnut Ridge. 

Arch History

Designed by artist Steven Fiscus and installed by Jeff Dardozzi over a four-day period, the arch was commissioned in 2008 as part of the town’s 250th anniversary celebration, and funded through a competitive grant administered by The Progress Fund.
